How exciting to be able to make my own vanilla extract. I've got my first batch brewing, not exactly sure how it's going to come out because I ran out of vodka and substituted with gin as I didn't have any brandy or rum handy! Who knows how it will turn out but I've got my fingers crossed.Vanilla Extract
2 Cups (16 oz.) vodka
You may also use brandy or rum (rum will give it a sweet flavor)
6 vanilla beans
You can easily cut this recipe in half and use 3 vanilla beans and 1 cup of vodka, brandy or rum. You can use any kind of bottle you want, but I do recommend glass.
