Home made vanilla extract

How exciting to be able to make my own vanilla extract. I've got my first batch brewing, not exactly sure how it's going to come out because I ran out of vodka and substituted with gin as I didn't have any brandy or rum handy! Who knows how it will turn out but I've got my fingers crossed.

Vanilla Extract
2 Cups (16 oz.) vodka
You may also use brandy or rum (rum will give it a sweet flavor)
6 vanilla beans

You can easily cut this recipe in half and use 3 vanilla beans and 1 cup of vodka, brandy or rum. You can use any kind of bottle you want, but I do recommend glass.
