Bacon Wrapped Dates for Cocktail Hour!

Another happy part of Christmas vacation is cocktail hour with the family. We try to officially plan it one or two nights during the vacation, complete with grown up snacks and adult beverages – sometimes if the grown ups are feeling into it, we’ll even make a special appetizer just for the kids. 

In December 2014 I tried out a new sun dried tomato chutney that was served on crackers, and made Russ’ bacon wrapped dates. Big winner every time. Not sure which we finished faster.



35 dry dates, pitted (plan on a minimum of 5 pieces/person)
18 slices bacon - slice in half (1/2 slice per date)
White Peach-Balsamic Vinegar (we purchase this at WeOlive, but don't fear if you don't have a store near you. You can purchase this online - link is above)

Wrap each date with 1/2 piece of raw bacon. Secure with toothpick.
Sautee in frying pan until bacon is crispy on both sides.
Drizzle with balsamic.
Eat hot.
